IPsphere Forum Broadens Global Presence
Fremont, California – 22 May 2007 - The IPsphere Forum today announced the addition of three new full members: NEC Corporation, TELUS, and VSNL (Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited).
Japanese IT and network solutions provider NEC Corporation, Canadian telecommunications provider TELUS Communications and the leading Indian provider of international communication solutions VSNL join the current membership as full members and will begin active participation in the IPsphere Forum’s work program immediately.
“The IPsphere Forum’s focus on service management recognizes a key issue in our industry and we look forward to contributing to the Forum’s work in this area,” added Lee Himbeault, Senior Strategy Manager at TELUS. “We’re very impressed with the progress the IPsphere Forum has made and the goals that have been set for 2007.”
“At 100 million broadband connections and growing, the Indian market represents both an exciting opportunity and formidable challenge. A framework for flexibly managing service resources – particularly across multiple stakeholders or technologies – is essential for providers of broadband services,” said John Hayduk, Chief Technology Officer, VSNL International.
“The promise of network convergence is the ability to unlock service ubiquity for users – whether tethered or mobile,” added Norihiko Uesugi, General Manager at NEC Corporation. “But to turn this potential into reality, a universal operations framework like IPsphere is a critical requirement.”
“We are excited to welcome these new members to the IPsphere Forum and to further expand the global presence and perspectives represented by the Forum. These three organizations bring not only a wealth of networking experience but also a deep understanding of the Japanese, Indian, and Canadian markets,” said Kevin Dillon, Chairman of the IPsphere Forum.
The next IPsphere Forum member meeting will be hosted by France Telecom in Dinard, France in September.
